From The Frontlines

We love February for the simple reason that it's "Show" month and Pat & I get to visit with artists and buy great handmade work for the upcoming year. This year was special because we had the opportunity to visit the refurbished textile mill warehouse studio of potter Liz Kinder. One of our longtime favorite ceramicists, Liz has taken an old warehouse in North Philly and built her studio on the ground floor. Colorful and vibrant on the sunny day we visited, the studio is spacious and inviting. (As are all working studios to Pat and me.)

During that trip to Philadelphia, the buying at the Rosen Show was quiet, but we did manage to find new artists and new work by our "regulars". We look forward to the arrival of the new work like kids on Christmas morning. Best part is that it happens over and over again throughout the year. Unlike Christmas - when it's over, it's over.

Next on the circuit was the American Crafts Council show in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a much smaller show, but the work is second to none. We are very excited about the new jewelry, carved birds and wacky dolls found in the whirlwind of our visit.
